Meet Our Team

Kelly Cornelius, Owner

Kelly is the proud owner of Home Instead in Central Phoenix. She relocated to Phoenix in 2007 to escape the windy, cold winters of the Midwest and fell in love with the Central Phoenix Corridor. After leaving Nebraska, the state she’ll forever call “home,” Kelly had a rewarding career in sales and business development at CVS Health. However, she always knew she needed to be in the business of providing care. Like most at Home Instead, it was a personal experience with a family member that led her back to what she loved doing as a teenager, taking care of seniors! Bringing independence and dignity to seniors through quality care and meaningful relationships brings Kelly more joy and fulfillment than she ever imagined. Her team inspires her every day and she feels extremely blessed to serve the community alongside them.

Kelly and her family enjoy traveling, sports, and exploring the beautiful state of Arizona. They spend as much time in Nebraska with their families as possible and love any vacation destination with a body of water!

Shelley Newton, Client Services Director

Shelley Newton started with Home Instead in 2004 as a Client Service Representative. During her tenure at Home Instead she has had the opportunity to work for 3 amazing offices and has been lucky enough to have many different roles such as Sales & Marketing Manager, Client Care Manager, HR Manager and General Manager. With her experience and intuition, Shelley is an amazing resource to our clients, families, and our community partners. She enjoys meeting new people and offering solutions to help them have a better quality of life. Shelley’s goal is always to keep seniors as independent and safe as possible in their own home.

Cathy Rommes, Care Management Director

Cathy grew up in Minnesota and moved to Arizona in 2009. Growing up she had a passion for caring for people. Wanting to follow in her aunt’s footsteps, she became a nurse. She pursued her nursing education at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Cathy found her passion working with the senior population. She has worked in admissions for skilled nursing facilities and senior communities. This experience and passion for providing quality care to seniors led her to Home Instead. Cathy is fiercely passionate about her clients. The combination of her clinical background and her compassion makes her a perfect fit for her role. She finds it incredibly rewarding to help our clients live comfortably and successfully in their homes. When she is not changing the face of aging, Cathy enjoys any activity with her family and friends, including travel, golf, hiking, and dance!

Rebecca Gonzalez, Office Manager

Rebecca is originally from La Mirada, California and grew up in a small town in Nayarit Mexico, where family is a priority and taking care of the elders is everyone’s responsibility. When her father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and end-stage cirrhosis of the liver, she became her father’s primary caregiver. With a background in Property Management and the personal caregiving experience she had with her own father, Rebecca started her journey with Home Instead. She is a nimble team member that has held many roles, including Trainer, Service Coordinator and now Office Manager. She joined Home Instead to bring smiles to seniors faces, but quickly learned she has the capacity to bring peace and serenity during the end-of-life journey. In her downtime, Rebecca enjoys cooking, painting, and anything that allows her to be creative.
